5/19 Life Teen Update

Hello Life Teen Families!

This will be my final Life Teen update as your Youth Minister.  I want to thank you all for your love and support.  It has been an honor and blessing to serve the youth of St. Oliver Plunkett for the past 23 years.  Randy and I will be speaking at all the Masses this weekend and I hope that I can see a lot of our Life Teen families so I can say THANK YOU!

I am excited for you all to meet the new Life Teen/Edge Youth Minister, Justin Estes.  Justin is the former Youth Minister at St. Joseph in Athens and will officially begin on June 13th.  I know that our parish will extend a warm welcome to Justin and his family.

Let us pray:

At the end of this Faith Formation year we give thanks to God:

For all the teaching and learning that has taken place in our parish, both in and out of the classroom,

For the talents and gifts that have been shared and the challenges that have been faced;

For the burdens that have been lifted and the hurts that have been healed;

For the respect and care that has been given.

We give thanks for the friendships that have just begun and for those that have grown.

For the faith that has been lived in our daily struggles,

For the hope that has lifted our hearts on the dark days

And for the love that has kept us going.

We give thanks for the community that we are, and we ask you Lord –

Bless our students as they take their school exams: may your Spirit inspire them with confidence and calmness

Bless our families as we take our vacations, may our time together leave us with memories to cherish.

Pour out your love on us that we may return renewed and refreshed to continue our journey together .

We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen

With my deepest gratitude and in Christ’s service,

Lynn

  • Please note that the Sunday Life Teen Mass has a NEW TIME beginning on 4/11—-5pm!
  • This Sunday, 4/11 is Divine Mercy Sunday.  The message of the Divine Mercy is simple. It is that God loves us – all of us. And, he wants us to recognize that his mercy is greater than our sins, so that we will call upon him with trust, receive his mercy, and let it flow through us to others. Thus, all will come to share his joy. The Divine Mercy message is one we can call to mind simply by remembering ABC: A: Ask for his mercy. God wants us to approach him in prayer constantly, repenting of our sins and asking him to pour his mercy out upon us and upon the whole world. B: Be merciful. God wants us to receive his mercy and let it flow through us to others. He wants us to extend love and forgiveness to others just as he does to us. C: Completely trust in Jesus. God wants us to know that the graces of his mercy are dependent upon our trust. The more we trust in Jesus, the more we will receive.

This message and devotion to Jesus as the Divine Mercy is based on the writings of St. Faustina Kowalska, an uneducated Polish nun who, in obedience to her spiritual director, wrote a diary of about 600 pages recording the revelations she received about God’s mercy. Even before her death in 1938, the devotion to the Divine Mercy had begun to spread.
